Clothes neurodivergent children choose to wear
My daughter has autism and ADHD, and like many neurodivergent children, she finds getting dressed very frustrating: she loves clothes, but she struggles with most textures, seams and fits.
We spent a great amount of time and money looking for clothes that would minimise her sensory overwhelm, but all I could find was T-shirts and socks, often of questionable quality, and never beautiful.
I had to alter her clothes to get by, but soon this wasn’t enough - so I started making dresses I knew would work for her. At the time, I worked in a school where I had the chance to spend some time with other neurodivergent children, and I kept hearing the same issues. This, along with my own research and experience, led me to identify a group of features to inform the construction of my dresses, and Nuzzle Dazzle was born.
